In the world of football, it is rare to find someone who combines playing experience with the ability to shape new generations as a coach, with the same passion and tactical vision. Mohamed Zakaria, known as Mido, is one of those exceptional figures who wrote a success story beyond his homeland, from Cairo to Singapore—a journey full of achievements and challenges.
Mido’s journey in football began as a professional player in Egypt, where he played for Al-Mansoura Club from 1998 to 2001, before moving to Kahrabaa Talkha Club from 2002 to 2006. These years were rich with learning and gaining experience, as he mastered the fundamentals of teamwork and the art of reading the game—skills that later formed the foundation of his coaching philosophy. His goal was never merely to score goals or win matches, but to deeply understand the game and develop himself into a complete player.
After a successful career in Egypt, Mido took a bold step to play abroad, joining Woodlands Wellington Club in Singapore from 2008 to 2009, and then Miami FC in the United States in 2010. These international experiences added a global dimension to his expertise, exposing him to different playing styles and training cultures, which enhanced his ability to adapt and understand players of various levels and skills.
At the end of his playing career, Mido transitioned into coaching, reflecting his deep passion for football. He began as a head coach at the International Football Academy in Singapore, then became technical director at Euro Soccer Academy, in addition to coaching at the Singapore American School as part of their primary football program (SAS). This shift from playing to coaching was not just a career change, but a continuous learning journey, applying his professional playing experience to develop both young and experienced players, with a strong focus on technical, tactical, and psychological aspects.
What distinguishes Mido’s coaching philosophy is building strong, cohesive teams based on discipline, cooperation, and continuous development. He does not limit himself to team coaching but designs individualized programs for each player—physically, tactically, and psychologically. He also pays special attention to women’s football programs, reflecting his comprehensive vision and dedication to nurturing a complete generation of players.
Mido holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from Mansoura University and an AFC/CAF ‘C’ coaching license, qualifying him to work at an international professional level. His expertise in communication, analysis, and planning makes him a model of a modern coach who combines knowledge with practical experience.
